Speke’s Mill Bay

Published: 13 Nov 2014

In need of a very dull day

I have been wanting to shoot this bay in Devon for some time. In perfect summer twilight it's a piece of cake but I wanted something more monochromatic with sense of time. Flat light might be the answer but on arrival it really did look too flat. No real colour in anything and not even a good sea running. I guessed the only possible result would emerge from a long exposure. This image came from 25 seconds and uses Canon's stunning 24mm TSE lens stopped down to f16 with a 10 stop ND bolted to the front.
